With all the time spent playing to cameras by Senators and Representatives, there was little time for any questions at all. There was one question with many follow up questions that was not asked.

The question for General Petraeus is: General, why should we and our constituents believe you now about progress when:
1. You were wrong about progress in your 2004 op-ed in the Washington Post;
2. Only 3 of the September benchmarks were met; 4 partially met; and 11 were not met at all;
3. The metrics for progress you come to us with are not the metrics that President Bush agreed to when signing the law funding the surge;
5. The only strategy you have for bringing the occupation to a successful ending is a strategy brought out of necessity not out of choice; and
6. The only goal we can see is not to end your tenure in office and President Bush's presidency with losing a war that appears lost.

This is the tough questioning backed up by facts and figures that did not happen. Why?
