Do you like sex? Well we must love it because we've been getting screwed for the last 20 years. In every way imaginable we've had our personal security depleted,our Rights lessened,and enough genocidal practices to make Vlad The Impaler proud of us. Now they talk about an 'Honorable Peace' in Iraq. There is nor can there be an honorable peace
when military actions are pursued illegally,humanity is reduced to being 'Targets' and private 'security force's are allowed to kill a will.
Iraq is a vendetta,pure and simple. The oil was just the icing on the cake.Beside it's the oil in Iran we really want. Why? Because this war, just like Vietnam ,is a 'Corpie' War. As such the is no 'Honor'. We are not defending home and family,right injustice, or liberating anyone.
What we are doing,quite well, is making a generation of people that will have a killers instinct. There will be folks suffering from combat related psychosis' who will lose it sometime and shootup a school yard.
There will be more rapes,molestations,domestic violencs and outright fistfights over little of nothing. That's what will come home to us. The people returning that can't adjust will join up with 'private armies' like Blackwater. All normal relationships with people will be anything else but normal. It happens like that with every war. There is never an 'Honorable Peace'. Just a simple act of ending hostilities. That is until we 'create' some other reason to wratchet up the killing machine.
Honorable Peace starts with respecting the rights of other's to live their lives regardless of who thinks it's good or not. If you look into anyone's life long enough you can find things you don't like. The compassionate understand, the ignorant, start wars. There's only one way to have a truly Honorable Peace and that's to never pick up arms in the first place. There's no real reason,except for the money, that any difference could'nt be worked out with patience and understanding and a strong sense of our essiental humanity. We have to stop using the 'dollar' as a measuring stick. If you think I'm all wet with that,ask yourself this. If we are'nt using the dollar as a social measure then how come we have laws that call for the jailing of the poor for no better reason than they are broke.
The closest way we could ever come away from Iraq with anything resembling an Honorable Peace is if we fess up to having a corrupt governance,arrest the perps,and dole out the same punishment we gave Saddam. We all know there was no WMD's,plots against America nor direct support of the supposed terrorists. That's why this war and the folks who ordered it are guilty of 'High Crimes Against Humanity'. If we,as a Nation, allow thesethugs to get off scot-free,then we have reduced ourselves to their level. I'm sorry,but anyone of us is better than anyone in the Executive Branch.There are homeless people that have more integrity than Bush,Cheney,Rummie,or Gonzo the forgetful.
The only Honorable Peace is one that ends hostilities forever. For people to say 'We're sickm of killing and distrust and we're putting those toys away....for good!'.
I might not like the fact that my neighbor drinks beer,eats red meat,and likes polka music but I sure as hell don't want to kill him for it. I respect his right to be the kind of persn he is. We need to do that on the International stage. Then we'll have an 'Honorable Peace'.
