Well, lets look a little at an article in Kentucky's Courier Journal in which David Hawpe takes McConnell to task over his hypocrisy, and selective moral outrage:
What utter hypocrisy.
Where were the Republicans in the U.S. Senate when a 2002 GOP television ad trashed Democrat Max Cleland, who lost both arms and a leg in a Vietnam grenade blast?
Those ads, aired by then-Rep. Saxby Chambliss, used photos of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden to bolster false claims that Cleland was soft on homeland security.
Where was the GOP outcry against that smear?
McConnell and his GOP caucus filibustered a Democratic alternative that also denounced the disgusting GOP attacks on triple-amputee Cleland and the 2004 Swift-boating of Sen. John Kerry.
It's OK for the Republicans to savage the reputation of Max Cleland, a veteran who gave two arms and a leg in Vietnam, and won the Silver Star, but it's not OK for MoveOn.org to attack David Petraeus?
As for McConnell, it's too bad he and other Senate leaders, who set the priorities and oversee the progress of legislation, have time for political stunts like this, but can't find time, for example, to fix a broken American health care system.

Thank you David Hawpe. This article shows the hypocrisy of the Republican Party. Where was all this outrage when a true American hero who almost gave life, and did give limb in Vietnam was compared to a villian like Saddam Hussein, who by the way was created by the neo-cons, not Max Cleland?
Was Sen. Cleland's sacrifice, service, and patriotism any less than Gen. Patreaus'? Of course not. That brings us to the main point, and the main reason that Kentucky needs to shed itself of the shameless hypocrite Mitch McConnell. Mitch McConnell doesn't give one hoot whether patriotic Americans are trashed, he just doesn't want anyone questioning the ridiculous failed policies of his god-king Bush in Iraq. He stood by with a smile and quietly condoned the attack on Max Cleland, who nobody can doubt is a true American patriot, but now he is worried about people attacking Gen. Patreaus? Give me a break!!!!
All Mitch McConnell cares about is keeping this failed policy going to placate Bush no matter what the cost. How many of our children will come back dead and in a wheelchair like Sen. Cleland matters little to him, Bush, or any of the other neo-cons who won't admit their narrow-minded view of the world is garbage.
So to Mitch McConnell, and any other Republican or Democrat who voted for this garbage of a bill while ignoring the real problems that beset this country I say, You are all shameless hypocrites!!!
Lets support a real leader, and a Democratic fighter to run against Mitch McConnell, and hold him accountable for his hypocrisy. Lets support Greg Stumbo for Ky Senate in 08!!!
