Okay, despite a few people clicking "Let's just jump in to Second Life", when I took the tally the vote was for the optional tutorials in the Move section - so that's where we went.
Okay, my standard caveats: This diary is to help people who are having trouble in Second Life. If you think Second Life is a waste of time, or you're not interested, you really don't need to tell us about it.
There will be pictures, and a lot of them. Huge pictures that will take a geological era to download over dialup. If you're on dialup you won't be able to use Second Life anyway, but if you want to see what the tutorials are like, you Have Been Warned.
That said, join me below the flip, and we'll go over the optional Move tutorials.

All right. We've completed the basic tutorials, so we can move, search, chat, and wear things from our inventory. Now, let's take a look at the optional tutorials in Move - vehicles and flying.
Walking over the bridge under the "Move" sign, we are confronted with our first challenge - vehicles. We need to find the vehicle we want to drive and right-click on it and select Drive.
We can also move the cursor over the vehicle until the cursor has a chair next to it and click. I prefer to right-click, but do what works best for you.
As you can see, there are a variety of vehicles scattered around the island to try, and all vehicles pretty much work the same, so the choice here pretty much depends on your taste, or lack of it.
Speaking of lack of taste, let's drive this one.
Driving is a lot like walking - you use your arrow keys to steer and move forwards and backwards. Be careful - vehicles move faster, some a lot faster. There's also some lag time depending on your network connection and any server lag issues, so driving at worst is like programming a Mars rover, you put the command in and see what happens.
They have a little game here where you practice steering by running down rats in the street. Someone at Linden Labs is off their medication.
Once you're finished, carefully park your chosen vehicle and we'll head over to the Flight Institute to practice flying.
Naturally, the Flight Institute is indoors. This makes a twisted kind of sense, as we will only be able to screw up so badly now.
Flight should look familiar. After you start flying (by clicking the Fly button on the toolbar at the bottom of the client) you use the arrow keys to move around, and the Pg Up and Pg Dn keys to move up and down, respectively.
All you need to do is follow the red arrows. They even tell you which keys to press to go up and down.
I suggest light taps on the keys when precision is necessary, but again, whatever works for you.
On the way out I found this sign with some bonus tips on some tricks you can do with your camera.
Well, that's it for Move. What do you want to learn about now?
