Of course, this is all anecdotal. I've never studied bumper sticker distribution; I just go with what I see. Here in this majority Democratic part of the country, this is what's to be expected, I guess, especially with the Republican meltdown occurring in much of the region.
Around Boston, when I'm driving, I pay attention to what bumper stickers I see. The 2008 presidential bumper stickers are starting to percolate, but predictably, I've seen almost exclusively Democratic stickers. I do most of my driving in Watertown and Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the candidates' bumper stickers I've seen the most have been for Edwards or Obama. Not that I've counted, but the one I seem to have seen most frequently is Obama.
What does this mean? I don't know. I'd guess this indicates the electricity surrounding certain candidates and their activists. The bumper sticker support, at least around here, seems to be saying that Barack Obama is most favored to be the next president of the United States, but only by a hair over John Edwards. There's still time to get more stickers on cars!
I haven't picked up a bumper sticker to paste next to my Deval Patrick for governor bumper sticker. I intend to, and I'm pretty sure I'm going with Edwards (even though Obama's design is much cooler.) The only other presidential stickers I've seen for 2008 so far are Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani (once for each, and I saw that Rudy sticker today, on the back of a car with New York plates and another bumper sticker that said, "Against abortion? Don't have one!" Yeah, that Rudy's gonna play well with the evangelicals...)
Anyway, what have you been seeing in your neck of the woods? This is all very informal, but anecdotes from around the country might be interesting, so post 'em if you got 'em. It'll be interesting to see if actual sightings match the frontrunners you keep hearing about in the media.
