At the end of the movie Yankee Doodle Dandy George Cohan is summoned to meet President Roosevelt. He thinks he’s in trouble for acting in a not-too-flattering portrayal of the President, but he was called to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. George asks, “Are you sure there isn't some mistake?” The President assures George who then says, “But this medal is for people who've given their lives to their country or done something big. I'm just a song and dance man.”
The President responds, “A man may give his life to his country in many different ways, Mr. Cohan. And quite often he isn't the best judge of how much he has given. Your songs were a symbol of the American spirit. Over There was just as powerful a weapon as any cannon, as any battleship we had in the First World War.”
Yankee Doodle Dandy is a story of a man who spent his life in patriotic service to his country. It wasn’t a perfect life, nevertheless it was a life that from early youth was focused on service to the United States. And it is very good to see George Cohen rewarded for his service with honor which symbolizes that the government recognizes his enormous contribution.
Every American should be grateful to those people who devote their lives to helping America. Hillary Clinton devoted her life to doing good deeds for Americans. She’s not 100% perfect, nobody is, but the fact is the sum total of her patriotic work is enormous. A few examples:
*Clinton successfully sought to increase the research funding for illnesses such as prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the National Institutes of Health.
*Young Hillary Rodham provided free legal help that helped children avoid getting sick or in trouble, suffer family problems or drop out of school.
*In 1997 Hillary Clinton helped create the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which was the largest expansion of health insurance coverage for children in the U.S. since Medicaid began in the 1960s. By 2006 SCHIP provided health insurance for 6.6 million children.
*Clinton helped foster children find homes. She initiated the Adoption and Safe Families Act which was signed into law in 1997. By 2002 the law had increased foster adoptions by 64% nationwide.
*First Lady Hillary Clinton founded the Save America's Treasures program to restore iconic historic items and sites such as the flag that inspired the Star Spangled Banner. She also created the first Sculpture Garden to showcase American works of art.
*After 9/11 Senator Clinton and Senator Schumer spoke out against government foot-dragging in getting necessary medical aid to people injured by 9/11. They helped speed up the process of recovery and obtained $21.4 billion for redevelopment and aid to victims. Clinton staff member Ann O’Leary recalls, “She fought and she fought and she finally got the funding that was necessary…”
*Senator Clinton championed programs to improve education, labor, technology infrastructure and economic development in New York. For example, in 2003, Clinton was able to get Tata Consultancy Services to set up shop in economically disadvantaged Buffalo, New York.
*Hillary Clinton’s and Mother Theresa joined forces to found the Mother Theresa Home For Infant Children which provides a home for babies waiting for adoption.
*Clintons has worked to advance a balanced energy policy to increase U.S. energy independence, create jobs, and provide cleaner, more reliable energy.
*Clinton authored the Early Treatment for HIV Act.
*Senator Clinton co-sponsored the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
*Hillary Rodham Clinton was a chief advisor to the President during an 8 years term which dramatically improved the lives of Americans with…
> the longest economic expansion in U.S. history
> the lowest poverty rates for single mothers, black Americans, and the aged
> successful elimination of a massive deficit and creation of record-high surpluses
> the lowest unemployment since the early 1970s
Hillary Clinton’s role as advisor during a time of American pride and success caused people to immediately seek her guidance during the 9/11 crisis. Watch Ann O’Leary describe how senior and junior senators of both parties sought Clintons’ leadership on 9/11:

How do I know Hillary Clinton is worthy of the great honor of being President of the United States? I know because Clinton has spent her entire life serving our country so that the sum total of her good actions is enormous, and during her whole life Clinton has been a leader of many groups, large and small, during times of calm and times of crisis. HRC can navigate this country towards a safe, prosperous and proud future!
