Dear Lorne,
Over the years, we've enjoyed dozens of great, no, fantastic political imitations by your extremely talented cast members. Who can forget Chevy Chase as the bumbling Gerald Ford or Dana Carvey nailing both Ross Perot and GHWB. Every time a new politician hits the spotlight, for better or for worse, there you are! Ready with the one-two knockout, spot on imitation of that person. It's been a great ride.
Today, I'm asking you, pleading with you - don't go there with Governor Palin. Tina Fey is arguably the most talented woman associated with SNL in recent years. There is breathless anticipation of how she will absolutly be a dead ringer for the Republican Nominee. Bloggers, entertainment websites, are universally thrilled to see what she and the current SNL writers will come up with.
Lorne, if I may be so bold as to address you by your first name, this is what the republicans are waiting for too! Give her more air time! Give them something to grouse about, give her more free publicitiy. Throw more logs on the Palin fire! Burn up those phone lines! Grab a 40 share!
But Lorne, my friend, you don't have to give this gift to them. You have the power to say, "Nyeh!" You could start a positive turn away from the R team by not giving them the time of day (or night, rather)
Lorne, my dear friend, please, give us a Hillary Clinton sketch, throw some Obama/Biden backroom stuff at us, bring back a golden oldie. But Please, Please, don't give us Tina Fey as Sarah Palin! It's just what they are waiting for.
I'll be watching. If you'd like me to come on and give an editorial comment, post it in the comments below.
