Yesterday we learned that Dennis Kucinich advised his supporters to choose Obama on the second ballot. Then this morning we learned that Richardson made the same deal. And now it appears that Joe Biden has a similar deal in the works. I haven't heard if Dodd and Gravel have issued similar instructions, but the way things are going, you kind of get the idea that the momentum's in Obama's favor.
Me, I'm an Edwards supporter, but I'd be content with Obama. I've been figuring that Iowa looked good for Edwards, but now I'm not so sure. I'll still predict a narrow victory for Edwards, but I'd say Obama is the clear favorite right now.
I really do like the second ballot idea. I think we should apply that to all elections. I can see definite potential for abuse with it, with a particular party maybe putting up two strong canidates to shut out other challengers, but I could live with that, since I can't see a party scrounging up two strong candidates often enough.
I can see Edwards and Biden getting work in an Obama administration. Richardson, too. I'm not so sure I see any of those guys as a running mate—but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I do think this is partially a result of Tom Daschle having given Obama exclusive access to his Rolodex a few years ago. Obama knows how to work out in public and behind the scenes, so I'd say he'd make a good president. That's why he's my second choice!
