This is extremely dangerous stuff. McCain revs up the vitriol, his crowd predictably responds, and then McCain does nothing as they start bringing out the nooses. McCain is now doing things that may help get another person killed. If he can't stand up to his own crowd's BS, if he can't put "country first" as he says, then he is a most despicable person. If he can't do something to check the bigotry and hatred of his crowd, then he is no better than the bigots to whom he appeals. If McCain somehow wasn't ready for the very predictable result the first time, he should make statements against that kind of BS in the future. As far as I can tell though, he first seems surprised and then displeased by the comment, but then a small smile seems to creep across his face as he apparently dismisses the comment as playful nonsense. It is not nonsense; it is dangerous bigotry and hatred, and McCain's leading the way. McCain is bringing the country down down down, and right now I feel nothing but disgust toward him.
As blue armadillo points out (below), this comes the same day a Florida audience member at a Palin event yelled out "Kill him!" in reference to Obama and his alleged links with Ayers. They would rather risk Obama's death than say anything against their own crowd's racist hatred.
