A new Time magazine poll shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain nationally, 50% to 43%.
Key points:
No Democrat has crossed the 50% threshold in the general election since before Ronald Reagan was elected, let alone done so a month before the election.
23% of McCain supporters say they might change their mind, while only 15% of Obama's say they could be persuaded to switch
Voters give Obama a 45% to 37% edge over McCain as the better equipped candidate to handle the economic crisis
23% of those who watched the first presidential debate said it made them more likely to vote for Obama, while 16% said they were more likely to vote for McCain.
Also dragging McCain down: President Bush's approval rating is 23%, the lowest number ever found in the poll.
It's become apparent that John McCain lost this election in August. Usually the democratic candidates are defined in August by their counterparts and their poll numbers go south from there. The republicans no matter how hard they've tried.... have been completely unsuccessful at defining Obama and he's increasingly gaining strength.
Bill Clinton won the White House twice without touching 50%. ...I think Obama will come in around 52-53% in my never to be humble opinion!
Now is the time to get involved in the Obama campaign. Don't rest on laurels...lets make sure these polls only increase. Four weeks to go, no time to waste!
OH!..did you all notice "W"orthless Bush's poll numbers..23%..the lowest in their polling history!
