The DCCC has released its latest wave of Red to Blue participants, and perhaps their final one.
It's an excellent list - and a somewhat surprising one, given the nature of some of the seats on this list. .
AL-03: Josh Segall
CA-50: Nick Leibham
IA-04: Becky Greenwald
LA-01: Jim Harlan
MN-06: Elwyn Tinklenberg
NJ-05: Dennis Shulman
SC-01: Linda Ketner
TX-10: Larry Joe Doherty
Note the PVIs of these districts.
AL-03: R+4.3
CA-50: R+4.6
IA-04: D+0.6
LA-01: R+18.1
MN-06: R+5.1
NJ-05: R+4.4
SC-01: R+9.6
TX-10: R+13.0
With the exception of IA-04, the least Republican of these districts is AL-03, where Bush won 57% of the vote in 2004. Included on this list is LA-01, where he posted a blinding 71-28 victory in 2004, and where the last Democratic candidate to run for the House lost by over 50 points.
This comes on the same day as the DCCC made a $487,000 ad buy in an R+16.3 district against Republican Mark Souder.
It's an exceptional year, and we have exceptional candidates to do the job. We're especially excited about the inclusion of Orange to Blue candidate Dennis Shulman, the blind psychologist and rabbi currently running in New Jersey's 5th District. He faces one of the most conservative Representatives to be found in any Northern state, Scott Garrett, a man so reactionary that he was the lone Northern Republican to vote against renewing the Voting Rights act.
He was seemingly safely camped out in New Jersey's second-most Republican district, but you have the chance to help sent Garrett home.
