UPDATE: Obama Makes Incredible Gains in Virginia!

A new PPP has been released today showing Obama stretching his lead in Virginia. From Taegan Goddard

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Virginia shows Sen. Barack Obama expanding his lead over Sen. John McCain, 51% to 43%.

Key findings: "Obama's made tremendous strides with white voters over the last three weeks, cutting a 60-35 gap with them to 52-42. A PPP analysis earlier in the summer showed that Obama would most likely win Virginia if he could capture just 39% of the white vote, and at 42% currently with 6% still undecided it appears at this point he would reach that threshold easily."

Just look at some of the intrernals:

Look at the white vote in this sample. %73 percent of the voters sampled are white. Looks like this is hitting home for a lot of people. Skin color just isn't a factor for most people.

And the age factor. Weren't we told older white voters would never vote for Obama, especially in a reliably red southern state like Virginia?

And here's some great news for McCain! Seems his gamble on picking Palin is finally paying off.....for Obama :-)

And with less than 4 weeks to go until election day and many states already early voting, the majority of the people polled are firmly committed to their candidate. Which is wonderful news for Obama!

I think Virginia and North Carolina will be the big stories on Nov. 4th. And possibly Georgia. It just keeps looking better and better everyday!!

Obama/Biden: 47%

McCain/Palin: 41%

-- After a tightening earlier in the week, Obama has re-opened a 6-pt. lead over McCain. This was likely driven by the fact that Obama has expanded his lead among women voters. He now holds a 9 pt. advantage over McCain with women. He also has a 2 pt. lead over McCain among men.

-- Among the 66% of voters who say the economy is their #1 issue, Obama has a 13-pt advantage. And he holds a 6-pt. lead - 44-38% - on the question of who'd do the best job handling the economy. In yesterday's poll, the two were tied on this question.

-- Palin's approval ratings are also sliding and she has almost a 1-1 fav/unfav rating, with 46% rating her favorably and 43% rating her unfavorably.
