I receive emails constantly from an old friend, they go straight to my junk mail folder. She was the first to send me the "Baracks a MUSLIM" email, so needless to say I don't often pay attention to her. But yesterday, while perusing the junk, before permanent delete, I ran across this email, and I just had to share it and my response.
HER EMAIL:
I have been wondering about why Whites are racists, and no other race is. Proud to be White Michael Richards makes his point...
Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.
This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...
Someone finally said it... How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman' .... and that's OK.
But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink .. You call me a racist. You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi. You h ave the NAACP. You have BET... If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists. If we had a White PrideDay, you would call us racists. If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives we'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that??
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US .
Yet if there were 'White colleges' That would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud...But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists??
There is nothing improper about this e-mail... Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have lost most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves ! BE PROUD TO BE WHITE ! It's not a crime yet, but getting real close!

THIS IS DISGUSTING AND INCREDIBLY OFFENSIVE TO ME. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY MORE RACIST GARBAGE. I AM PROUDLY VOTING FOR BARACK OBAMA! WHEN I LOOK AT HIM, I SEE NEITHER BLACK NOR WHITE, I SEE , FINALLY, A VERY SMART MAN WHO JUST MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIGURE A WAY OUT OF THE MESS WE ARE IN.

First of all, this e-mail has nothing to do with Barack Obama. And I did not forward this to you to offend you...I forwarded it because I feel that the white people of this country are not allowed to say or do anything for the whites. We do not have a white college that only white kids can go to...but there is a black american college. The Miss America Pageant can have any person of color in it....but not the Miss Black America. People come to this country and speak whatever language they want and we need to interpret their language. I take care of patients that can't even speak English.
I am very sorry that you misinterpreted this e-mail, it really had nothing to do with Barack Obama. I was forwarding this on because I AM PROUD TO BE WHITE and like the e-mail says, it's not a crime, yet.
AT THIS POINT, HER FRIENDSHIP NO LONGER SEEMED NECESSARY, SO I WROTE:
This is the very worst racism, racism masquerading as pride. First of all, what is there to be proud of? The color of my skin? That is nothing I have accomplished, it is only representative of where my ancestors were born. I would much rather be proud of the person I am. Those of dark skin color were told for years they were less, then we finally told them they could be "proud", not that they are as good as us, but just they could have a day when we acted like they were close to being as good as we are. Citing Martin Luther King means you know nothing about his message! If you read his speaches, without seeing his color, you would realize he deserves years of recognition!
As far as colleges go, those "black" colleges were started so a black mother could send her child to be educated in a place he would not have to be worried about being killed for the color of his skin. You know, back when we wouldn't let them in our colleges. There are still places a athlete like Tiger Woods is no allowed to golf, do you feel "proud"? And to quote Michael Richards, well that is downright disgusting. Since most TV is white already, including producers and writers, needing a white entertainment station is redundent. Such luminary groups like White Pride and the KKK are proud of being white also, yet there usually isn't a brain among them. I have such close black and spanish friends and I see how even now they are treated as just not as smart, because of the color of their skin. Or if they get a good job, then it must have been because of EEO, and not their intelligence.
As far as this not being about Barack, I find that hard to believe, since you already sent me several of the discredited slime emails. You even sent me the "HE"S A MUSLIM" email. But this response is not about Barack, it's about decency and the long time, dangerous, "pride" of white americans, which usually leads to something bad happening to someone of dark skin. What exactly is it that white people don't have now? Why do you feel we need our own schools, etc, we already get everything first, just because we are "white", how does that make sense?
As far as your patients, I dealt to foreigners all of the time in the casino. So, if they want to spend their money in a casino, they don't need to speak english, but if they need medical assistance, then they better be fluent. Do they pay you less to take care of non-english speaking patients? We are a country of immigrants, so unless your ass was on the Mayflower, I doubt your ancestors came here speaking english! My great-grandparents, who lived until I was 17, had very strong Italian accents, but taught none of their children how to speak Italian, because they were afraid they would be considered less american. How sad, we could have been bi-lingual, if not for "White Pride". When I first met John, his father inferred I was not "white" enough because I had Italian blood. To his bigoted mind, italians are very close to blacks, REALLY, he actually said being half Irish is what saved me! I had to remind him, how when the Irish came here, during the potato famine, they were the new niggars, signs even said, "NO BLACKS, NO IRISH".
I AM NOT PROUD TO BE WHITE, I am proud to be intelligent, loving, open-minded, family oriented, trustworthy but not proud of being white! And if being proud to be "white" becomes a crime, it will because of all the red-necks (who have accomplished nothing else in their sad little lives) who use being "white" as a reason to hate all others.
PS What category do Jews go in, they are white, yet they don't believe in Jesus, so are they allowed to have "White Pride" or are they out of our happy little group because of religion. Just how far does this have to go to be silly? How about white gays and lesbians, are they allowed to be proud? Do we like them?
