This morning, after that amazing night, waking up in a state which is now just barely red, I drove through Oakhurst to take my son to school. Along the sides of the avenue that long ago boasted a street car down the middle, still no signs, but flags: American flags, hanging from just about every modest little bungalow, lining that street like I'd never, ever seen. I went home, just a few blocks away, and got out my flag. I've never been more proud.
This is my first diary at Daily Kos, but I want to thank the community for BEING a community--a place I could go when I was discouraged about the politics of this country, the politics of Georgia, and remember how many like-minded, engaged, hopeful, caring people there are in this country. Thank you for all you do.
