I sat at a bar last night and it is one of those neighborhood joints where people like your parents go to, and sit and have a sandwich and a beer and chit chat. A news segment with one of Obama's policy speeches came on a flat screen behind the bar. It was closed captioned. Everyone at the bar sat quietly and read what he said.
It feels like a national archetypal movementthat we all just cannot wait for Bush and his idiots to be gone. Jung wrote about this. Before Hitler came to power, people felt uneasy, they had disturbing dreams about Odin, they couldn't wait for things to change. Towards the end of WWII his patients around 1944 began to sense something better was coming. They couldn't wait for change. It's like we have all been caught in a house where insane decisions are made, lies are told, things get worse and worse and we all just want to go running out t, he door and go somewhere...anywhere else.
Most Americans probably believe 09 will be even harder than 08. No one thinks Obama will be able to stop some of this disaster. But it doesn't matter. At least the guys who run ran us into the ditch will be out of the car, they'll hand over the keys, and someone else will be driving.
I like watching Obama speak. He is articulate and intelligent and that alone gives me hope. That alone.
