How to Burst a Bubble

Obama has often mentioned The Bubble. "This is a problem," he told ABC's Barbara Walters last month. "One of the things that I'm going to have to work through is how to break through the isolation -- the bubble that exists around the president."

Inside The Bubble, as Obama well knows, lurks a further danger: groupthink. Obama has used this Orwellian word himself. "One of the dangers in a White House, based on my reading of history, is that you get wrapped up in groupthink, and everybody agrees with everything and there's no discussion and there are no dissenting views," he said this month.

It seems Cohen has been sucked into the "Blob"-like bubble that has encapsulated the vast majority of traditional media journalists over the last seven years or so. This, of course, has led to the monk-like transcribing of all of Bush & Co.'s propaganda bullshit which was then presented as hard-hitting journalism. It has also had the hypnotic effect of making them think that this will be their home in perpetuity.

The traditional media and the political pundits, and the TV talking heads have occasionally harrumphed, and tut-tutted, and tsk-tsked but almost none of them was willing to state the truth about the worst president in the history of our nation. Not one of them was willing to come right out and say George W. Bush & Co. are liars, scoundrels, and thieves every man jack of them, as our English cousins say.

What gutless wonders we have keeping America informed. They, just like Bush & Co., don't give a rat's ass about the future safety, security and welfare of the American people. If they did, they'd be shouting the truth from on high at every moment of every hour of every day

If Cohen takes a moment to peer through the opalescent skin surrounding him and his brethren, they may just say a tall handsome man of color approaching with the biggest needle you've ever seen.
