Just like our soon to be ex-president George Bush, Israel's criminally corrupt war-mongering leader will leave behind a trail of death and destruction in his wake. Olmert, like Bush, believed that there was nothing they could not do in order to remain in power. Even if it meant the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians and the loss of thousands of loyal young men and women who were asked to fight for the their country in the the mistaken belief that their leaders would never put them in harm's way for the sake of political expediency.
And unfortunately for the Israelis and the Palestinians who have endured decades of war and destruction, Olmert's probable successor will be Benjamin Netanyahu who from our experience of his previous time as Israeli Prime Minister will make Olmert look like Mahatma Ghandi.
I doubt that the goal of "peace in the Middle East" will ever be achieved as long as their are men and women who see war and terrorism as their primary options in advancing their own ideologies.
