Obama spokesman Bill Burton:
"The choice in this election is between more of the same divisive, say-or-do-anything-to-win politics of the past and real change that we can believe in. That's the change that Barack Obama offers, and that's why more and more voters across America are choosing him as our next president."
"Real change we can believe in" is the catch phrase of Obama's campaign. Barack Obama offers that change, so he says. Down with the do or say anything, divisive politics of the past. Obama says he can change all that for you. Today, Obama said he can help us confront and deal with racial misunderstandings and resentments, and unify us to common causes instead. He, apparently, thinks he is the perfect solution to the problem that he has diagnosed us with as a country.
So, Obama supporters, what evidence is there to suggest that is true given that he couldn't change the attitude of the divisive, black separatist church he has attended for 20 years?
He denounced Wright, praised and excused him, all in the same breath. He explained why Wright believes as he does, and he tells us how wrong it is to believe that way. He even tells us that he knew about the views of his pastor (after insisting he didn't on Friday -- must have done some polling to show that was just absolutely unbelievable).
So why hasn't Obama, who seems to believe he has such awesome powers, succeeded in unifying and ending the divisiveness in his own church -- a church he donated $52K last year? There is certainly no evidence he has tried to educate the congregants or Wright like he claimed to be trying to educate voters today. Certainly, he must realize that pastors influence their congregations. That is their entire purpose. Yet he has his children attending that church, where, by his own admission divisiveness and separatism are preached.
Once again, the actions do not match the words. Why?
My diagnosis as to what ails Obama? The common political affliction called "chronic phonyism."
Update: Not a single Obama supporter seems to be able to explain why Obama's actions don't match his rhetoric. All they can manage is the usual ridiculous accusations that any diarist that doesn't support Obama must be a "troll" a republican, or paid by Hillary Clinton. They would do better to put down the kool aid and think for a moment.
