There's been a lot in the news lately concerning people emphasizing Barack Obama's middle name, Hussein, in order to evoke doubts about his heritage, patriotism, and religion. An Obama supporter is organizing an ingeniuous event to counter this.

"That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." (Romeo & Juliet, Act II, scene2). And so would Barack still be the inspiring leader he is even if his name were different!

Show your support for Barack Obama by wearing a rose to campaign events and elections and help neutralize the right wing smear attempts.

Since the Rose is the National Flower of the United States, we created the "A Rose by any other Name" event as an ongoing nationwide action to show our support for Barack Obama by wearing a national symbol which not only addresses the flagpin question but also reframes the issue of the middle name.

- From now until the Convention on August 25-28, wear a single rose on your lapel especially when going to campaign events and voting. - Pick up a rose from your local florist. Break out your origami sets and fold some at home. Boast one of those silk blossoms from your eternal synthetic bouquet. Wear any color. The greater variety, the better to reflect our diversity! Choose your type and wear it with pride!

We all know that what really matters is the intelligence and integrity of a person, not the arbitrary coincidences of his name. We all know that what really matters is the content of his character. And it doesn't hurt that the greatest wordsmith of the English language is on our side!
