Obama's Campaign in Open War with Fox News

One reason Swift Boating works is because our Candidates have been too cute by half in seriously taking the fight to the cancer in our media, the chumps and bimbo's over at Fox News...

Take a look at these two posts in the last week by Obama's Blog and ask yourself, Will They allow themselves to be swiftboated this time?

First, in a Thank you to Chris Wallace

We appreciate Chris Wallace for doing his job as a tough but fair journalist on a network that has been deeply irresponsible over the last week in its unrelenting and sensationalistic coverage of Senator Obama.

If Fox News wants to play clips of the same offensive sound bites every day from now until November, that's their right, but that type of coverage does a disservice to their viewers and to a nation that is facing serious challenges that merit thoughtful and honest reporting.

And a second episode a few days ago that many here didn't notice, but Barack's Campaign did.

Apparently, today was a slow news day.

So Fox News evidently decided to pore through our millions of user-created pages on My.BarackObama.com and put a screenshot of inflammatory content on the front page of FoxNews.com.

You see, more than 700,000 people have created accounts on the system. You can create one right now if you choose, in about a minute -- anyone can.

Now, from time to time people get up to no good -- creating fake profiles (like one for Sean Hannity created today), or posting profane or inappropriate content. When they do, the community reports the offending content and if it violates our terms of service it is removed (as the Sean Hannity profile was).

My.BarackObama.com has been at the core of our bottom-up organizing strategy. The tools available have been put to work by a community of supporters that is bigger and more powerful than anything presidential politics has ever seen.

Evidently, Fox News didn't think it was a big deal that hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans are participating in the democratic process creating groups and local events in communities all across the country.

But they did think it was a big deal that one random person on the Internet, without the knowledge of the Obama campaign, posted a profile in the system with the image of the New Black Panther Party on it.

When we were alerted of the existence of this page, we pulled it down. Yet even after we pulled the page, Fox News continues to disingenuously and prominently feature this "story" on their homepage.

This to me is HUGE... Obama's Campaign is priming for the General Election and they're becoming Media Savy not by complaining in Public or Hoping for a SNL Skit... they're informing their supporters on the Blog, they're activating their supporters to email and write complaints, in the same/similar fashion Daily Kos so often does. This is a very interesting Development, one to keep an eye on, as Obama's Official Campaign Blog, which has a very large readership (many threads often reaching 1000+ posts) taking to offense and going to War with Fox News.

This is a campaign I can believe in! This is a campaign I've been waiting years For!
