"Let me just look you in the eye," the Arizona senator said, "I’ve said a thousand times on this campaign trail, I’ve said as often as I can, that I want to find clones of Alito and Roberts. I worked as hard as anybody to get them confirmed. I look you in the eye and tell you I’ve said a thousand times that I wanted Alito and Roberts. I have told anybody who will listen. I flat-out tell you I will have people as close to Roberts and Alito [as possible], and I am proud of my record of working to get them confirmed, and people who worked to get them confirmed will tell you how hard I worked."
Oh but how dare the press ask such questions:
"It's distressing," he told me, "on the day before a primary that something like this should come up, because one, it's distracting, and two, I have done nothing but support these people."
That's right, WE THE PEOPLE don't have a right to know about presidential candidates and their dangerous views. How dare we ask questions that might get in the way of their ambitions.
Maverick, my friends? In the words of Whitney Houston, "hell to the no."
With Justice Stevens and Ginsburg well into their golden years, the next President will most likely choose a few Supreme Court Justices. Let us work to make sure that it is President Obama making these important decisions and not McCain.
Oh and for all of those who want to vote for McCain because your candidate didn't get the nomination, I guess I can understand if you don't enjoy your rights.
