The The Bagof Health and Politics describes him/her self as:
. . . born out of wedlock to an unmarried, mentally ill, 39 year old woman. My mother's pregnancy was considered high risk. She signed me over to the state when I was 3 days old, feeling that she was incapable of caring for a baby. She had settled on adoption during her pregnancy. I know very little about her, and I've never met her.
I am an adopter. When adopting I looked for mothers who were healthy and whose mothers had care for their pregnancy. My wife and I wanted a healthy baby; not one who was ill. We worked with an agency that made certain their mothers had food, shelter, medical care and counseling. As a result we were fortunate to adopt a healthy baby girl.
Anyone who is against society providing, food, shelter, medical care, and counseling for women and in particular poor women who are pregnant or may become pregnant is in favor of killing some babies. That is a bottom line kind thing. An unhealthy woman who has inadequate medical care is much more likely to have a dead fetus than a healthy woman with adequate medical care. Do pro-life republicans ensure this? Hell no. They thus kill fetuses in pregnant women through some strange logic that they should not help others to conclude that is okay.
This logic not only applies to fetuses in poor pregnant women, but to all people who do not have adequate food, shelter, or health care. They die earlier. Most so called pro-lifers and particularly those in the republican party just do not give a damn. Giving everyone adequate food, shelter, and medical care is considered welfare and bad by those pro-lifers.
Then comes the death penalty. President George W. Pro-life Bush has yet to meet a death penalty he didn't agree with. Just as he will not provide money for people to live, he will not provide a pardon for people to live. This too reflects the position of most pro-life republicans. What is truly ludicrous is how they will come together to insist that some poor person, baby or fetus must be kept alive when they are completely unwilling to pay for any of the support. Life is wonderfull when ya don't have to pay for it.
I am pro-choice! Not because I do not believe in life, I do, but because I believe any person deserves the right to decide what to do with their own body. I always think of the famous person example. Suppose you wake up with your veins connected to a famous person who will die if she/he is disconnected. I believe you have the right to disconnect your body. I may be unhappy about the death, but the right is yours!
Democrats Obama and Hillary need to face this issue directly by defining themselves and pro-life/choice democrats and call republicans pro-death candidates.
