If you listen to the main stream media you already know what they think. They think that Obama has lost his mojo. They say he looks tired, exhausted. Weak. While Hillary on the other hand looks energized, and much stronger. The Rev Wright fiasco is taking it's toll on Obama and the campaign.
You know what? I agree. Especially in PA. He did look tired and exhausted. Even if I thought he did well in the dedate he still looked tired. It looks like Obama has lost his mojo.
Here is what he can do to get it back.
He needs to find a way to attack Hillary and McCain without having to attack them or resort to politics as usual. He needs to use their arguments against them, but frame it in a way that reflects the spirit of his campaign. n Hip Hop vanacular we call this "Flipping the script:. I think he should also get back on his Hope and YEs we can messages that served him so well in the beginning of the election. However, both of those messages would need to be ugraded. Here is what I mean..
Let's take the debate..
When asked about the Flag Pin. An immediate response should have been to say:
"This is what I mean about poltics as usual. We have spent the better part of this debate on distractions. The people of PA want to talk about how they are going to afford to drive to work, put food on the table, and send there kids to school. Yet here we are talking about a flag pin and if that means I am or if I'm not patriotic enough. Let me answer your question this way. Hilliary is not wearing a flag pin. Does that mean she is unpatriotic. If I'm not mistaken neither you GHibson are wearing pins. Does that mean that you're not patriotic? McCain in his last several commercials and TV apperances wasn't wearing a pin either. Does that mean he is not patriotic? See how silly this is. We are facing serious problems as a nation and we are talking about flag pins?"
Or here is one that he can use to attack McCain and possible Hillary, since she didn't return to washington to vote on it. Obama did. This might make decent commercialm or stump speech 9i'm not a speech writer, so just pay attention to the ideas)..
"Some of my opponents think that after 911 we should take away american civil liberties and basic rights. That we should let the government listen to our private conversations. That's it's ok for the government to spy on it's citizens in the name of keeping us safe. They say that this is the price of keeping us safe. I say they are wrong! The terrorist wanted to destory our way of life. They wanted to detory what makes America so great. Our freedom. Now you have some politicians that want to give into the terrrorist. They want to give away our freedoms. Why? Our freedoms is what makes America strong. That is what makes America great."
basically, you can turn McCains greatest strength into a weakness. By voting for FISA, and other "anti"-terror measures he is actually making America more and more like the terrorist he hates. He is also giving the Teorrrist what they want by taking away our freedoms.
You can also hit them with the whole fear campaign that you know the republicans will launch. Again turn their use of fear into a weakness.
Say things like they assume that Americans are afraid. But we are not afraid. We are the most powerful nation on earth and we should fear nothing. There is nothing that we can't do once we are determined to do it...then you can add a whole host of examples.
He just has to flip the script.
Billary and GOP are begining to catch up to him. He is going to have to attck. I think this is his best way to attack. He's going to have to use their words against them, but do it in a way that keeps with the general theme of his campaign. This is one way to do it.
