I'm glad to see some papers like the LATimes are getting that there's a struggle going on in the GOP.
It would seem that the GOP has it's own Nader.
Ron Paul pulling from one end, Bob Barr pulling from the other end..which one will tear McBush apart? Hopefully both will register enough damage to McCain to be embarrassing for the seriously flawed GOP nominee. It's obvious the Bushbots hate their candidate, and McCain is too much out to lunch and out of touch to realize it. Great!
I'd rather have some libertarian nut-jobs running the Republican party than the neoconic self proclaimed moral majority... At least we can have a real discussion about the role of government... Kind of like the federalist/anti-federalist days...
Im not a fan of Ron Paul due to his backward and archaic views on social issues, but I do hope he stands the republican convention on its ear. Let Rush Limpballs yammer on about his own operation chaos, the real chaos may well be inside the republican convention itself, televised for all the world to see, making an already weak and flawed McCain look like the disaster he will certainly be in November.
Unfortunately, any expression of enthusiasm and excitement for a political candidate (Ron Paul and Barack Obama both come to mind) is treated as cult-like or insanity simply because few people can imagine being thrilled by a political candidate.
That's a sad commentary. Apparently we are supposed to support only candidates we can barely tolerate.
