I confess, I didn't even watch one second of cable news on Tuesday. I played poker. I got a friend on the phone nearly 3 hours after the polls closed, and he gave me a hilarious, gorgeously profane encapsulation of the massive insipidry of Greater Pundolia.
Right as we were winding up our conversation, he mentions, reading off TV:
"Breaking: Democrat wins special election in Mississippi."
I started laughing. All that effort in punditry. So pointless. All the exit poll wankery, so much drilling down, so little feel for the spirit at loose in the land.
81% of the country thinks it's on the wrong track. I mean, really, when this is the number, do these people not understand how many standard deviations of everloving shit (SDES) that the Republican Party has to be hated for that to happen?
81% is fucking absurd. That's epic, historic hatred. That doesn't happen overnight. That's not some whimsical snapshot of America on one downer of a week. That is deep, furious anger. That takes a layering of earned rage.
All these blithering moron pundits filling time, too clever by half. I mean, we are sitting here analyzing how Barack Obama is improving by a few percent or losing a few percent with working class white men without college degrees in states bordering the Ohio River. It's hysterically stupid.
The country hates the shit out of the Republican Party. This a grotesquely corrupt, ideologically bankrupt group of incompetents, thugs, criminals and hacks who have horribly fucked up the country and everybody knows it. I mean, Cindy freaking McCain nearly got indicted for stealing pills from her own foundation, and even steals recipes. "That c- will steal anything not nailed down," reports John McCain. It's a freakshow.
81%. Hastert's deep red Illinois district, and two deep red Deep South districts where they test-ran Willie Horton version 2.008, three Democratic wins.
And this is a complex election to analyze? The Republicans nominated a guy who flies into a rage just for being accurately quoted! I laugh, and laugh, and laugh.
America hates the everloving shit out of the Republican Party, and nothing can stop the god damn avalanche coming its way. The end.
