The John Edwards Jet-Ski Fund

John Edwards announced his endorsement of Barack Obama tonight. He talked about the terrible problems of the working class and the need for universal health care. But he also made a startling revelation...he still hasn't received a Jet-Ski.

The impact of Edwards' endorsement will be debated over the next few days (should he have done it sooner, does it matter at all, etc.) but there's one thing that shouldn't be debated:

John Edwards needs his Jet-Ski.

I know he wanted a Kawasaki 800 SXR , but unless we're all willing to chip in, there's no way I, personally, can afford to buy one for him.

Have you seen those things? They're expensive, but as Edwards has said, "those things are pretty sweet."

So tonight, I am creating the John Edwards Jet-Ski Fund. I am hoping that we can buy a brand new Kawasaki for John, but our initial goal will be about $4000 (enough to buy a used one from eBay). Do we really want to give a used jet-ski to the guy that many of us supported for President even before Obama?

Although Elizabeth Edwards has yet to endorse a candidate, she has still fought hard for the issues that we care strongly about. I think that's a good enough reason to throw in a jet-ski for her as well.

So the final initial goal should be about $8000 (maybe as much as $10,000). Who's in?
