Now, many here know that I am no Obama apolegist. I supported someone else in the primary because I disagreed with some of Obama's platform. However, I am a Democrat and I agree with him on a whole lot more than I disagree with him on, and I feel compelled to speak on this subject.
First, Obama is right when he says that we should at least try and talk to some of the people we are supposed to be at war with right now. Just because you talk to someone, it doesn't mean you are going to "appease" them later. You can sit at the table with someone and talk to them without backing down. Well, you can if you have a higher intelligence than George W. Bush and his neo-con handlers, whose distorted view of the world was defeated long ago, and never works when it is tried.
I was born in 1970 and all my life we have heard, "We don't negotiate with terrorists". That is a great "moral" stance, but has it really worked? If you have leaders that have wisdom and tact, not stubborness and stupidity you might actually accomplish some goodwill while standing firm. Not everything can be looked at in extremes.
Now, if George W. Bush is so much better at diplomacy, and working with allies and enemies, why did Saudi Arabia tell him to take a flying leap today? Yes, you see what the hardcore vision of idiocy George W. Bush has cooked up for us, talking tough at war in Iraq, and beholden and begging Saudi Arabia. I didn't hear much of that tough talk when he asked them to increase production.
Lastly, I beg all these neo-cons for the sake of their own reputation as intelligent human beings to refrain from comparing this fiasco to WWII. Where are the equivilents of the German Panzer units or the Japanese Navy and Air Force? Where is the equivilant of the SS or the concentration camps? I beg to differ that the whole world will be threatened with facism and dictatorship at the hands of these "terrorists" if they are not appeased. Just that the neo-cons believe this makes Barack Obama more qualified than any of them to run foreign policy.
That is why any Democrat thinking about not voting for our ticket if who you weren't supporting doesn't make the top should think again. John McCain, in his typical whipped dog fashion followed right behind President Gump in this attack. He believes in the world-view of the neo-cons and if he doesn't he is beholden to it. These people have shown time and time again in the last twenty years they are just not capable of running foreign policy because they have a distorted world-view. And they tell me I'm crazy because I don't believe the Warren Commision!!
George W. Bush has no credibility to attack Barack Obama on anything to do with any kind of judgement in foreign policy or anything else. John McCain is another neo-con, bent on carrying out the distorted view of the world perpetuated by the Bush crowd. In fact, Barack Obama is far more qualified to run foreign policy than Bush or McCain ever was because he is not beholden to a failed world view. I will proudly stand with Barack Obama and tell them they are wrong.
