All one has to do is look back at Whitfield's statements when elected to this seat to see that he has not kept his word to the citizens of this district. Lets take a look back at the old Whitfield:
Republican Wants To Reform Congress
Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer

Ed Whitfield was a Democrat until January, when he filed for the 1st District U.S. Representative's seat as a Republican.
"I am genuinely concerned about a government that in the last 40 years - at least in the House of Representatives - has isolated itself and has become so arrogant," said Whitfield, 51, of Hopkinsville.
The former state representative said the House has deteriorated under Democratic control and that Congress needs to be reformed.
"I intend to break with the leadership when the time is necessary," Whitfield said. "My first priority is to my constituents, not to the party." Whitfield, an attorney, said he began voting Republican while Ronald Reagan was president, even though he didn't change his registration until earlier this year.
How completely laughable!! Now, rewind to the last miserable Republican controlled Congress. Whitfield voted with men like Tom DeLay and Mitch McConnell well over half the time. This partisan hackery led to the wasting of hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of young American lives. When Ed Whitfield had a chance to stand up to his leadership when they were wrong, he fell in line dutifully.
The article continued:
" Whitfield said national spending is out of control. He supports a line-item veto for the president - a measure he said will get rid of pork projects.
The federal government, he said, needs to cut taxes to encourage investment while making cuts in government spending to balance the budget.
Yes, Exxon Eddie sure failed in that regard. He rubber-stamped all the failed policies that have increased our debt, and a balance budget is a mere dream now. In fact, Exxon Eddie's inconsistencies were so numerous, we figured we needed a web page of its own to list them. Check it out here:

Luckily, Democrats in this district are tired of Exxon Eddie. We want a real leader in Congress who knows the challenges we face and will fight for us over Corporations and big monied special-interests. We deserve it. In Exxon Eddie's tenure the citizens are falling further and further behind, and Exxon Eddie and his buddies are getting richer and richer.
Heather is not afraid to fight the Republicans in this district, state, and indeed the country. She is not afraid to stand up for her constituents. Unlike Whitfield, she would truly stand up to her party if she felt they were wrong.
Heather is young, educated and highly motivated to make a difference for the people of this district. She is a wife, mother, veteran, and neighbor. She offers a new generation of leadership stepping to the plate in this party and country. She is just the kind of Democrat we need to elect in this election year. Heather wants Democrats to hear her:
If we get the resources to introduce our huge district to Heather, and the horrible record Exxon Eddie has amassed in our names, we win. We come from one of the largest, poorest districts in America. We need your help to win this race. Exxon Eddie has huge special-interest money to run on, a million dollars.
While we know we can never hope to raise that much, we just need the money to get our message out. Please support us by joining Americans for Ryan. No contribution is too small:

If we truly want to expand our Congressional majorities districts like this one are the ones we need to pick off. I honestly believe the peopel of this district will vote for Heather when they know her and Whitfield. The only question is, will they?
Best wishes everyone!!
