When leaners are included Obama leads +7, a point up from yestereday
Obama 50%
McCain 43%
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracts 48% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. When "leaners" are included, Obama leads 50% to 43%. Those figures represent a modest one-week bounce for Obama. Last Tuesday, just before the Illinois Senator clinched the nomination, the candidates were tied at 46%
Edited: I know all of this is early and polls mean little, but looking beyond the numbers you can see where the trend is and get a quick pulse of the nation. It's a good sign that the party is uniting behind Obama. The bump was a slow build as larger numbers of Clinton backers didn't come back over until Clinton had exited the race. I hope that the trend continues and we can build a double digit lead into the late summer when the polls start to mean a little more.
Also should be noted, McCain has dropped every day in the last 5 days where he once stood at 45% He's been in the lower 40's now and I'd rather be on top at this point than clawing our way up for the next 5 months. We clawed our way up to get here. Would be nice to steer the ship for awhile instead of riding.
