What scares me most about this is that the Bush administration could really use a new war, there's nothing like a bit of precision bombing c/o USAF to get those jingoistic juices flowing.
With the president 'enjoying' the lowest approval rating in history and McCain successfully touted as a third Bush term, it’s a massive hill the Repugs need to climb, but a bit of late night CNN vids showing square blocks with crosshairs on them going bang and disappearing is just what's needed.
It’s a very dark scenario, I worry, Bush is on a European tour right now and is successfully getting the EU rattling their sabers with him. I mean, fuck knows how he’s doing it...again, you'd have thought his credibility would be shot by now, but they're lapping it up.
It's like the same script getting a re-run. So, it starts, the EU and the US making more demands of Iran and threatening more sanctions and Iran is playing along too.
Didyoueatmydinnerdad is the puppet head of an extremely unpopular regime, and he too knows the value of a US led incursion into his country. His people are just like us and will be every bit as jingoistic, it would prop his regime up for a little longer, and will act as another great recruitment extravaganza for the Islamic terrorist groups.
Fucking scary, that fucker Bush has less than six months left in office, but he's going to do this.
Iran know that although the US has 150,000 troops on its border they're pretty tied up, they also know that to get more ground troops into the arena Bush would have to get Congressional approval, which ain't gonna happen. But, a few precision bombs will prop up the Iranians, do the recruitment trick for the terrorists and give McCain a little bump in the polls, everyone's a winner right?
On top of the sacking of both the military and civilian heads of the USAF, Gates is also running the hatchet through a bunch of generals and colonels...
Read it in it's entirety at Yahoo News
Gates said "a substantial number" of generals and colonels also face possible disciplinary action as a result of an investigation into a mistaken shipment of fuses for nuclear weapons to Taiwan.
Gates asked for and received the resignations of General T. Michael Moseley, the air force chief of staff, and Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne.
It probably has nothing to do with this, but whether it has or not, is irrelevant I guess, the point is the US looks like it's about to open up another fucking huge can of worms and I feel like nothing is happening to stop it, what can we do?
