I will start off with my comment
When I woke up this morning, my country was being led by war criminals, and apologists for war criminals. The majority party in congress refuses to acknowledge the gaping holes in the fabric of the constitution, nor will they even attempt to stop the hemorrhaging of our civil liberties. The aforementioned war criminal in chief has expressed his support for a new illegal war based on the same marketing campaign shortly before he leaves office, and the same aforementioned opposition majority of congress makes no move to stop him.
All of this while the candidate of the spineless opposition party sees no reason to shake up the boat too much by opposing said raping of the constitution, but I am the one who is to blame for him if he looses the election because I won't shut up, move to the back of the bus, and open my wallet for the collection plate?
fuck off
What is worse is that the same thing was true yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that. This was not a sudden thing, people, and some of us have been on point for a LONG time. We are tired, and utterly exhausted, over the endless attempts to get ANYONE to acknowledge ANYTHING.
What could ever possess anyone to believe that the time to stand up and hold a politician accountable for something is AFTER they are elected? What possible reason would they have for coming to their senses then? If someone KNOWS (like the Republicans used to) that no matter what they say or do, their base will turn out like mindless sheep to support them, they have absolutely no reason to make the difficult choices. Capitulation will be the rule of the day, because the monied interests will always have the press, which can do a hell of a lot more damage in a few days than the people can to a politician.
Obama has made an open invitation to hold him accountable for each and every position he holds. He has even gone so far as to state that if he differs with us it will NOT be because of politics...in other words he says that his positions are taken because of conviction, not calculation. Conviction, my friends, is always open to logical discourse. I would hope that activists, who spend their day trying to convince people of their convictions, would agree with that.
