It's quite sad that it took a reader to note this Gaffe to end all Gaffe's rather than our informed press.... that said, Today John McCain invoked a long non-existent country, again proving his superior grasp upon Foreign Policy.

A reader notes that John McCain today expressed concern about Russia's "reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia."

Which hasn't existed for nearly two decades.

"I was concerned about a couple of steps that the Russian government took in the last several days. One was reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia. Apparently that is in reaction to the Czech's agreement with us concerning missile defense, and again some of the Russian now announcement they are now retargeting new targets, something they abandoned at the end of the Cold War, is also a concern. So we see the tensions between Russia and their neighbors, as well as Russia and the United States are somewhat increasing. We need to try to do everything we can to lessen those tensions including the tensions between Russia and the country of Georgia." ...

Here is the deal that McCain was referring to.

Obviously, if Obama had made such a misstep, it'd be the lead news today as there would be conference call ongoing as we speak from several McCain lackies whining about how inexperienced and nieve Obama is to not understand the difference between Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic.

But it's John, so these sorts of flubs are cute, in an old man forgets where he is and pisses himself on the bus sorta way.... Gotta love the stinch of experience.

Just incase he mentions it, Gaul Fries are actually French Fries...
