A couple of "nuggets" from the dumbest and most unpopular president in the history of the United States....
Bush also called on the Democratic-run Congress to follow his example and lift a ban on offshore drilling to help increase domestic oil production.
"I readily concede it won't produce a barrel of oil tomorrow, but it will reverse the psychology," Bush told a White House news conference _ his first since late April.
Ummmmm.....It looks as if Bush is taking a cue from Phil Gramm and John McCain with his "psychological" babble! So, maybe Bush is now saying it's all in our heads?
President Bush said Tuesday the nation's troubled financial system is "basically sound" and urged lawmakers to quickly enact legislation to prop up mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Ummmmm.....if our financial systems are "basically sound" why does congress need to "prop" them up?
"I don't think the government ought to be involved in bailing out companies," Bush said.
Ummmmm.....how about Bear Stearns, FANNIE MAE, FREDDIE MAC, IndyMac and Lehman Bros?
"I think the system is basically sound, I truly do," Bush said.
Ummmmm.....like Iraq had "Weapons of Mass Distruction" and that we'd be welcomed with flowers and chocolates and "major combat in Iraq has ended"?
Bush acknowledged it could take years before opening the Continental Shelf to oil drilling would result in increased U.S. production. But, he said, at least it would put the nation on the right track toward reducing its reliance on imported oil.
"There is no short term solution," Bush said. "The president doesn't have a magic wand. You can't just say, 'Low gas.' "
Ummmmm.....isn't the whole point of this current exercise to lower our dependence on oil..period? Like developing and using renewable and alternate energy sources?
Asked about his comment earlier this year that he hadn't heard of $4 gasoline, Bush said: "I've heard of it now."
Ummmmm.....could somebody please inform the dolt that gas is now up to $5.00 a gallon on the west coast? Could somebody please inform Einstein Bush that oil companies EXPORTED 1.6 million barrels of refined petroleum products in the first 4 mos of this year, up 33% from 2007. If there is enough U.S. oil to export, why in the world is the U.S. importing so much foreign oil??
The Republicans and Bush had total control and marched lockstep in both Houses of Congress and the White House for seven years.... and they've been blocking the Democrat's every move for the last year. Every problem we have today can be laid directly at their feet. And he blames the Democrats for our troubles! Their arrogance only matched their stupidity. Why didn't the oil companies drill in the millions of acres of offshore and National land plots already available and already leased to them all this time? Why are they only just now complaining about drilling rights... when the Republicans were in power for seven years, we never heard a peep out of the oil companies about opening up drilling. They were too busy counting their money from Bush's tax breaks and their profits have never been more obscene.
Bush is just a complete moron and the republican who wishes to succeed him is even more out of touch and egregious than the dolt who claims to be "W"... as in "W"orthless. Remember, "W" upside down is just "M".....
