News from Madison, WI has hit the wires regarding Debra Bartoshevich, the elected pledged delegate for Hillary Clinton. You may recall that after HRC dropped out of the race, Bartoshevich told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel she would support McCain. She has since backtracked a bit citing emotional reasons for her comments.
Well the WDP's administrative comittee took no chance and voted to strip her of her status. Kudos to the WDP and for the message this sends!
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin Democrats have ousted a delegate to their national convention for saying she would vote for Republican Sen. John McCain.
The Wisconsin Democratic Party's administrative committee voted Friday to strip Debra Bartoshevich of her status as a delegate to the Denver convention.
Bartoshevich was elected as a pledged delegate for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. But after Clinton dropped out of the race, Bartoshevich told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel she would support McCain.
Bartoshevich says she made the comments during an emotional time and she hasn't made up her mind.
But the party says she violated rules requiring delegates to support its nominee.
UPDATE 1: Hopefully Colorado follows suit with Sacha Millstone.
UPDATE 2: Apparently back in June when this story broke, Camp McCain tried to push the meme by alerting reporters and welcoming her to "Citizens for McCain". I hope they welcome her with a nice bowl of cottage cheese and some whine.
McCain aide alerted press:
Encouraged by her sister, who has served in Iraq, Bartoshevich signed up as a supporter with "Citizens for McCain," an arm of the campaign targeting Democrats and independents. She said she got a call from the McCain campaign, which then provided her name to a reporter.
