For those who have not read my diaries, I live in a small, conservative, christian town in Georgia. In 2004 I started a grass roots organization to elect Kerry and my mother was by my side every step of the way. She even cried at our first meeting, when we went around the room introducing ourselves because she was so proud of me! I was so afraid I would be doing my Obama organizing alone this year. But as soon as Barack Obama won the nomination, she began to back him. She attended our United for Change party and discussed how much she liked Obama. She has been on the Obama train and she is rding it home. But just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did.
Yesterday I received a call from her. She was very upset because she had received a smear email about Obama and the quotes taken out of context from his books. First she wanted to borrow my copies of both his books. Next, she wanted to know how she could email the entire forward group so she could correct them! When I came home we first forwarded the smear email to the Obama camapign to alert them. Then we hit reply all and sent a nice letter explaining that this was not true and we should all get our facts straight before sending forwards. She proudly signed her name. Keep in mind this is someone she square dances with every week.(please don't go there-we do live in Georgia). I am so proud of her for standing up for our candidate. I truly believe she will be a driving force in getting Obama elected in Georgia this year. Hell hath no fury like an English woman pissed off. Go Mom! I love you.
