But McSame has a much more difficult problem in choosing his running mate than Obama. That's because he's old. No matter whom he eventually chooses, every single one of the aforementioned punditry will immediately remove the word "vice" from in front of the word president. Probably for the first time in presidential election history, the choice for vice-president will be a determining factor in whether the presidential candidate wins or loses.
And if we look at the imaginary "short list" that said punditry has decided on, it is fairly easy to see the problem clearly. Let's play the game.
Vice-President Mitt Romney....President Mitt Romney: not a snowball's chance in hell of getting the evangelicals to sign off on that one.
Vice-President Bobby Jindal....President Bobby Jindal: for the same reason some of our fellow citizens would never vote for Obama, too exotic, too foreign, and too dark. (Scratch this one as a non-starter).
Vice-President Tim Pawlenty....President Tim Pawlenty: Who???
Vice-President Sarah Palin....President Sarah Palin: see above.
Vice-President Colin Powell....President Colin Powell: a winner for sure but one little problem, Powell hates Bush & Co. so much it ain't gonna happen.
Vice-President Tom Ridge....President Tom Ridge: color-coded terror alerts anyone?
Vice-President Joe Lieberman....President Joe Lieberman: too Jewish and who wants to be whined at for four years.
Come to think of it. His dog is probably his best bet.
PS: The bandage doesn't help either.
