A "narrative" is simply a story.
McCain, who is now being advised by fellow Republican Karl "Contempt-of-Congress" Rove, tried to get away with telling a story about Obama that has now been proven false. He's been called on that false story by several major newspapers, and so he's "backed away"... the slinking cowardly way of admitting that he was trying to spread b.s.
Nonetheless, we have been told point-blank by McCain and his people that they will continue to keep selling this LIE. See, when a story is false, and it's told with the intention to deceive, it's nothing more sophisticated than a lie. There's really no need to call it anything else. It's a "LIE," in plain English.
Oh, I can hear the McCain / Rove response already: OK, maybe we didn't get this one exactly right, but it points to a larger pattern....blah blah blah...
BZZZZZT! No sale, Johnny. No sale, Karl.
Your entire shameless "Obama hates the troops" slander has been based on lies thus far. You haven't offered a single fact to support it, and you won't be able to find one. It's ALL been the usual, tired Republican campaign garbage, and that's all it ever will be.
In fact, what you've proven with this incident -- again -- is that in your desperation to spread the usual Karl Rove manure, you're very happy to lie through your teeth. Not only that, but you're promising the American people that you will be lying to them again, and repeatedly. That's how much respect you have for the American people, Mr. McCain -- you've promised to LIE to them to spread a "narrative" -- a story -- which has no relation to the truth. As you know damned well.
...Then again, the truth has never mattered to John McCain and his buddy Karl Rove. It's all about political power and money. The American people can go f*** themselves, to quote McCain's buddy Dick Cheney. The American people can eat more Republican lies, just like the kind McCain has helped George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and his advisor Karl Rove sell for the last eight years.

P.S. Oh, and Mr. McCain? Unlike your LIES re Obama, we actually have a very good case showing how you have nothing but contempt for the U.S. troops. You vetoed opposed a bipartisan G.I. Bill because you thought that American soldiers weren't worth the money, even though you can't wait to give more tax breaks to super-rich donors, most of whom have never served this country in any way, except to take its jobs overseas.
And you, John McCain, have been fine with seeing American soldiers get maimed and killed for nothing but political gain, as Iraq -- and the juvenile saber-rattling on Iran -- proves.
You started this shameless lie, McCain. You may try to keep selling it, but.... we'll make you very, very sorry you did.
