One issue we need as many dependable Democrats in the Congress as possible to achieve any meaningful change on is Healthcare. In the next Congress, we know the Drug and Insurance companies are chomping at the bit to sink hundreds of millions of dollars into fighting progress for the 50 million of us that have no healthcare to speak of.
Heather Ryan has stated that this is the first thing she wants to fight for in the new Congress. Her take on healthcare is spot-on:
It is an absolute travesty that 50 million Americans struggle without healthcare in the wealthiest nation in the world. Whats worse is when our reprensentative votes against improvements in access to healthcare for children and the poor. Unfortunately, these are both realities we have experienced under the current leadership. I propose that healthcare for every American is more important than tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.
It is time we had a representative that thinks about more than how much money he can make when he helps pass legislation that benefits the drug and insurance companies. As the leaders of the free world it is an embarassment that we are the only industrialized nation that does not offer healthcare for our citizens.

We know we have a bitter fight ahead of us to achieve progress on this issue, so why not support a candidate we can depend on to jump in the trenches and FIGHT?
We need Democrats like Heather Ryan in the Congress, but to get them there we simply must support them wherever they are. This race is winnable, if we get the resources to get our message out.
