A couple of days ago I was working (Daily Show/Colbert Report lurkers, I'm available for internships...please?) when an elderly lady came to the cash register I was at. It was early in the morning, and I wasn't fully awake yet, but then I noticed something on her purse. She had stuck an Obama button on there. Of course I started smiling and I told her that I liked her button. The two of us started talking and soon other people joined in. A cashier who I always assumed was a Republican told us that she couldn't vote for McCain and I'm sure will be voting for Obama. The cashier told me that McCain just "looked weird." This wasn't a young person either. The cashier is 50 years old.
"He's too old," the lady with the button told me. "He's as old as I am."
I never really get to discuss politics at work because I don't want to offend any customers (unless they're being assholes. Then I don't care). Needless to say, that wasn't a totally bad day at work.
Oh, and I also finally saw another Obama bumper sticker yesterday. It was a "Women for Obama" one. That's the third or fourth one I've seen in a week and a half. In Maine's Second District!
