Allow me to touch for a moment on the woman who could become America's number one senior citizen if God forbid, truly God forbid, her son and his party manage to steal another election.
Roberta McCain. She is the prism through which "Johnny" sees the world. And Roberta McCain leads a charmed life.
And God bless Roberta. Her health, vitality and piss and vinegar should be the envy of all of us. If you ask me, she looks like the mother of another entitled underachiever who managed to worm his ass into the White House. But so what.
Most important right now is to ponder Roberta McMansion's medication regime. There is no doughnut hole for senior citizens like Roberta McSame. She does not have to chop her pills in half when she reaches the notorious hole in coverage.

It's been reported that she was on a vacation in France several years ago and was told she could not lease a car due to her advanced years, so she bought one.
In France three years ago, when she was told that she was too old to rent a car, she simply bought one to drive around the countryside.
John McCain tells that story often on the campaign trail, a gleam of pride in his eyes. He also likes to regale reporters on the subject of his mother's numerous speeding tickets -- one in Arizona some time back reportedly for clocking 112.

Roberta simply bought one to drive around the countryside. . .
And in 2000, when Johnny was campaigning, Roberta, God bless her, was hop-scotching across the world.
While the man she still calls Johnny was taking his campaign bus through South Carolina, his mother was on another one of her three-month jaunts around the world, which she often takes with her twin sister Rowena. Her latest trip took her to India, the Netherlands, Singapore, New Zealand, Tasmania and Australia, among other places.

Like I said, a charmed life.
This is how John McMansion voted on a variety of bills designed to protect seniors. He was against all of them!
McCain Missed Critical Vote to Bargain for Lower Prescription Drug Prices for Seniors.
McCain missed a vote to amend Medicare Part D so Medicare could negotiate lower prices for prescription drugs, just like the Department of Veterans Affairs does. Prices for prescription drugs under Medicare Part D are 50 percent higher than those for veterans because the VA can bargain. [S. 3, Vote #132, 4/18/07; New York Times, 4/19/07; Families USA, 1/07]

But here on planet earth in America, where most of us make do on less than 5 million per annum, our lives bear no resemblance to the life of Roberta McMansion or John and Cindy McMansion.
Let's take a look at life for the under 5 million dollar a year crowd.
Someone like this man. Your father or mine. Your grandfather or mine.

79 Million Americans Struggle to Pay Medical Bills
Working-age Americans are facing mounting problems when it comes to affording health care, a result of what analysts are calling a "perfect storm" of economic woes.
In 2007, 41 percent of working-age Americans -- 72 million people -- reported having medical bill problems or trouble paying off medical debts, up from 34 percent in 2005.
Another 7 million adults over 65 had similar problems, bringing the total to 79 million adults struggling to pay health-care bills, according to a new study from The Commonwealth Fund,Losing Ground: How the Loss of Adequate Health Insurance Is Burdening Working Families.
"These findings provide further evidence that the health system is falling short of where it needs to be to ensure health and economic security," Karen Davis, president of The Commonwealth Fund, said at a Tuesday teleconference. "We need a new administration to make universal and affordable health insurance available," she said.
. . .In 2007, nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults under 65 (116 million people) reported having problems with medical bills or debt, having put off needed care due to cost, or being uninsured or underinsured and consequently having high out-of-pocket medical costs relative to their income.

By the way, I'll end by inviting you to take a look at how John and Cindy McMansion live. This is a spread from Architectural Digest.
