Just a hunch, but here goes. Everyone knows that McCain could have chosen a more experienced and recognized woman. But, he chose someone who has the least amount of experience imaginable. And, someone who has not earned the respect of the national media. It seems to me that this decision was a calculation and invitation for the media to say things that the Republicans can charge as being sexist, even if they are not.
If the Republicans are successful in turning this race into a conversation about anything but their own failures, they win votes.
And the media already is taking the bait.
Over at Shakesville they've started up the Sarah Palin Sexism Watch, and they have two examples already. While we may not support her positions on the issues, her physical appearance and the fact that she has a young child have no bearing on her ability to do the job of VP. However, her lack of experience does.

So I caution people to not say anything that could conceivable be deemed as a sexist remark. I think the Palin pick is a strategy to turn the conversation around and use the sexism card to its maximum extreme.
Move over POW card here comes sexism.
