In pandering to the religious Right, John McCain has recklessly chosen an inexperienced "hockey mom" to serve as his running mate. To be clear, prior to December 2006, Sarah Palin's only executive experience was as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1996-2002. Here:

The most disturbing aspect of this is that, as we all know, John McCain could potentially not be around much longer. Therefore, with two wars raging in Iraq and Afghanistan, most sane observers on both sides of the aisle thought it would be incumbent upon him to select a running mate who would be able to take the reins in an emergency and manage those two wars effectively.
But that’s not what we got. Instead, we got a person with no clue:
Alaska Business Monthly: We've lost a lot of Alaska's military members to the war in Iraq. How do you feel about sending more troops into battle, as President Bush is suggesting?
Palin: I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq.
Of course, ridiculous statements like that inevitably lead to YouTube web ads like this:
The fact that she doesn’t pay much attention to Iraq is so glaring that her surrogates are now left stuttering about her national security prowess by directly stating that she has experience because Alaska is close to Russia:
Again, we’re looking at a potential Commander-in-Chief here. Think about that. The reckless judgment exhibited in this case by a possibly unhealthy John McCain is frankly stunning. Those who intend on voting this November must ask themselves this question:
Am I comfortable with this woman running a two-front war?
This selection is not only an insult to America’s troops serving in the line of fire, it’s a shockingly precarious course of action in a dangerous world. The troops deserve better.
