Reported by Reuters in Sunday's Washington Post:
Worried about how former president Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, are portrayed in an upcoming CBS miniseries, the Republican Party asked the network Friday to submit the program to historians for review or label it as not historically accurate.
Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie expressed his concerns... [snip] "To avoid any confusion as to what constitutes treating the President, Mrs. Reagan and the Reagan administrations in an honest sort of way, I respectfully request that you allow a team of historians to review the program for historical accuracy... If you're unwilling to do so, I respectfully request that you inform your viewers via a crawl every 10 minutes that the program is a fictional portrayal of the Reagans and the Reagan Presidency, and they should not consider it to be historically accurate."
I say let's have the networks submit BushCo statements to specialists for review or label them as not factually accurate.
To paraphrase Mr. Gillespie: "To avoid any confusion as to what constitutes treating the President, Mr. Cheney and the Bush administrations in an honest sort of way, I respectfully request that you allow a team of national security experts to review the news for factual accuracy... If you're unwilling to do so, I respectfully request that you inform your viewers via a crawl every 10 minutes that the news program is a fictional portrayal of Bush and the realities in our world, and they should not consider it to be factually accurate."
