As discussed, today is the AFL-CIO's Walk For Labor(Sept.4), during
which presumably hundreds, if not thousands, of union members will hit the streets to canvass and distribute literature on political issues that matter to working families.
While I was at home over lunch I was listening to Rush Limbaugh (know thy
enemy), on 1110 KFAB (Omaha) and I heard a peculiar ad stating something to the effect of: "Remember, keep your family safe from home invasions, burglary, assault and kidnapping, and never answer your door if someone you don't know is knocking. They could be trying to trick you into opening your door so they can get in and hurt you or your family members, etc." The ad said it was paid for by the US Department of Justice and the Ad Council and to go to www.ncpc.org (National Crime
Prevention Council--think McGruff) for more information.
Given the Bush administration's use of the Department of Justice for political purposes, it just seems too coincidental that this ad is airing on the same day the AFL-CIO is sending canvassers out to working class neighborhoods to inform working families on issues.
I don't want to seem like a wild-eyed conspiracy theorist, but I am suspicious.
Please pass this along to the powers that be to check this out and make sure this isn't an insidious form of government sponsored vote suppression.
