I won't be able to attend the Festival, but if any of you Kossacks are at The Bare Bones, the name
of the film is Dover Lake. I filmed it on a private lake, and it was about 90 degrees but felt like
a hundred, and we were all just dying out there.
I tried to warn everyone to wear a hat, because if you stand in the Alabama sun too long
in the summer your brain starts too cook and sizzle.
Plus I had to work with a couple of 11 year olds, and man were they a pain. Next film
I attempt, I am sticking to teenagers or young adults.
The film making is just a hobby, I gave up expecting to win any awards, I just wanted
to get screened somewhere. And in Muskogee, Oklahoma of all places. So, I am
happy it will get a screening, at a cool old theater like The Roxy.
It just makes me think of the Merle Haggard song Muskogee " We don't smoke marijuana
in Muskogee " but yet I do. I think that is ironic. I have a lame listing on IMDB too.
You know the best part of making a film for me was the actual filming, it feels like
a family when you are working out in the field. But then, I am more of a theatre
person, so I have directed quite a few productions, but stepping into film has been a real
learning experience.
