Bill O'Reilly says Joan Walsh has blood on her hands

I have no idea what possessed the Salon editor to do this. She was never going to get the upperhand, and gave Billo an excuse to hector and yell at her for fifteen minutes. She had to know this. And yet... and yet.

It's hard to have a debate with someone who's irrational and will retroactively change the question when he doesn't like the answer he received, but to the Fox Nation, Bill will come out on top.

I like the fact that O'Reilly (and Hannity, Cavuto, et al.) put on people they disagree with, even though Fox News is still biased as heck. But I give them credit because Olbermann never does this and Maddow rarely does. This kind of entertainment (none dare call it news) makes for better television than, say, Eugene Robinson agreeing with whatever rhetorical question Keith volleys his way.

That said - I can't give O'Reilly too much credit. He's still an obnoxious blowhard and hypocrite, and looks like an unrepentant bully here. For those of us who don't like him, this makes us dislike him even more.

He called an abortion provider "Tiller the Killer" for years, sent a producer to harass him, and spent four years calling him out on his legal activity. So guess who has "blood on their hands"? Duh! It's Joan Walsh! Welcome to the No Spin Zone!

Walsh nails him at the tail end of the last segment, and O'Reilly (no doubt seething), just ends the segment with no rebuttal. I hate to say it, but it's great television. I just don't know what Joan Walsh was thinking.

Well, it was so not fine. I think the high or low point was when he shrieked at me, "You have blood on your hands!" At one point he also either told me to "Shut up" or "Be quiet," I can't remember. (If I'm wrong about that, when I see the clip, I'll correct it. UPDATE: Actually, he shouted "Stop talking!") He called me "vile." I think I said he was vile, too. There were a couple of "I know you are but what am I?" moments that I'm not totally proud of. It was a kaleidoscopic nightmare, a TV acid trip, and I don't do acid. It almost seems like O'Reilly does, but I don't think so. The man is driven by demons. God bless him and save him.
