This seems to be one of those stories that starts innocent enough and ends up being some really weird mixed up scandal.... Will this reach Ted Haggard epic proportions? Who knows, but it couldn't have happened to a better 2012-in-the-mix Con...

Now questions are clearly leading to two different sets of events...

No, he wasn't hiking nude on the Ap Trail, he was hoping a flight in Atlanta. And why is it taking him so long to get back to where he came from anyhow? Did he go Int'l?

NBC Atlanta has the scoop that could be the first weeding out of the 2012 field.

On Tuesday, sources told News 4's Nigel Robertson that a state vehicle is missing and was tracked down, not to the Appalachian Trail, but to the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta.

Sources told Robertson that a federal agent spotted Sanford in the airport boarding a plane. Robertson was told that the governor was not accompanied by security detail.

Hmmm.... Nude hiking was one thing but now a diversion that's starting to leak out? Why the diversion?

Hiking was clearly an unvetted "beard"... the Nude Hiking day on Sunday obviously wasn't checked out before they made it known. And how do you "write" from the App Trail anyhow Ms. Sanford...

Sanford took off without telling much

Staff claims he was hiking, coincidentally on Nude Day

Wife claims he went away to "write"

He probably drove from S. Carolina to Atlanta to catch a plane somewhere unknown

He still isn't home
