Progressive Radio to Return To Phoenix July 6, 2009

Once again Dr. Mike Newcomb will resurrect 1480 KPHX AM in Phoenix at 0001am
July 6th, 2009. Progressive radio will be given a third chance to succeed in Phoenix this time hopefully with the help of big names like Cheryl Crow, Tina Fey, and Bil Maher.

Dr. Mike Newcomb is friends with the owner of the station Jose Molina whose friends include those afore mentioned stars whom he hopes will help relaunch the new format on 1480 under the direction of Dr. Mike. As someone who lives in the Phoenix metro area, I have lived through the roller coaster known as progressive radio in the area since the 2004 election cycle. Starting with Dr. Mike on a local AM station, a lone progressive voice calling in the wilderness of conservative talk radio. Then the introduction of Air America Radio whose existence launched the political career (if it ever is decided) of Al Franken and the TV career of in my opinion their best ever talent Rachel Maddow.

When AAR went under here, Dr Mike brought progressive radio back twice and now is going to give it one more try. I hope that the local community will pitch in and support the station and support the sponsors. I have been listening to KPOJ radio in Portland on the Internet and quite frankly if I lived in the Portland area, I would patronize their sponsors.

With the loss of our Governor, Janet Napolitano, we have an almost solid regressive ultra conservative state legislature we need every means to get a progressive thought out on the airwaves.

So to you Dr. Mike, we in Phoenix thank you.
