He went on to simply write her off as an affirmative action statistic, who did not earn her grades at Princeton or Yale, and has no other qualifications other than being female and a Latina.
To Rachel: Perhaps you think you are being "fair and balanced" by inviting a bigoted race supremacist, anti-Semitic, homophobic dinosaur on your show as some type of foil for your liberal pov.
Perhaps you are afraid to stand on your own for who you are and worry that you will be perceived as somehow lacking in "objectivity" if you don't have a counter-point to your insights.
Well, imho, it isn't necessary. There's an entire news network called FOX that is 24 7 trash. CNN hosts xenophobes and concern trolls masquerading as "journalists". Your own network has forced me to abandon morning news viewing due to Morning Joke and his trusty "side kicked upon" Mika.
By giving him airtime - you give him legitimacy as a commentator. By calling him "Uncle Pat" you make him family. You know, those irritating relatives we always disagree with but accept cause they are "family".
Well Pat BucKKKanan isn't any garden variety crabby uncle. And your decision to grant him license to vomit filth into my living room is neither cute, nor educational. I don't need an education on racists. I've recommended to my students that they watch your program. They too have been more than disturbed about his visits.
I rarely post polls on DKos, but I'm putting up one now. I am asking that anyone here who finds him as objectionable as I do to please comment.
Perhaps even suggest some other conservative (if you feel that is necessary) Frankly my attitude is fuck all of them. They dominate the airwaves. Let us have a safe space.
Thanks for reading my rant - if I can find the video of the episode I'll stick it in later (if you can stand to watch it).
Media matters applauded her for slamming Pat yesterday:
If you agree that she should drop Pat, drop her a line. Her email is rachel@msnbc.com
