I just checked the Boston newspapers for their coverage of Senator Kennedy's death. The contrast between the guest books at the Globe and the Herald is horrifying.

The guest book over at the Globe is full of respectful tributes, condolences to his widow and children, and so on. It's a typical funeral posting, complete with the obligatory link to a place where one can purchase funeral flowers (not very tasteful IMHO, but probably useful in many cases). There are over 55 pages of entries.

The Herald has a comment link with 192 entries. Seven of the first nine were removed from inappropriate content. Here are some of the rest:

Isn't being burned at the stake more appropriate than a burial at sea for Ted?

Doubtful that the mortician will have to do much embalming. The Dewars alone ought to be sufficient.

I hope you wish the thousands of troops that died in Afghanistan rest in peace too when Obama passes away. Mr Kennedy may be responsible for the loss of one life but Obama is responsible for thousands. Keep that in mind all you libtard hate mongers.

It's not his political views that I am worried about, it's about the taking of a human life, it's about rape and corruptness. If you're ok with people like the Teddy then it makes me wonder what kind of skeletons are in your closet.

Good-bye Senator. Thanks for the "Immigration Reform Act of 1965", which has turned so much of the United States into a third world hell hole. Your family and supporters will mourn your death as an individual. Many of us are too busy mourning the demise of the nation we love to be preoccupied with your passing. Thank you for your malignant legacy.

And on, and on, and on, for twenty some pages. The few lonely voices pointing out that Kennedy did a great deal of good are drowned out by the shrieks of what passes for conservatism these days. Awful, awful, awful stuff.

Of course it's probably nothing compared to the glee and orgasmic delight among the Freepers....
